Health Equity North director recognised for public health work with Honorary Fellowship

Health Equity North Academic Co-Director Professor Clare Bambra, Professor of Public Health at Newcastle University, has been awarded Honorary Fellow at the Faculty of Public Health (FPH) Awards 2024.

Professor Bambra was honoured, along with ten other UK academics, by the FPH for her extraordinary work and dedication to improving the health of populations across the UK.

The FPH is a membership organisation for over 5,000 public health professionals across the UK, working to improve the health and wellbeing of local communities and national populations.

The Honorary Fellowship is the FPH’s most prestigious membership given to those who have made an outstanding contribution to the science, literature or practice of public health.

Hannah Davies, Executive Director of Health Equity North said: “This is an extremely well earned accolade and my Health Equity North colleagues join me in congratulating Clare on this remarkable achievement. Clare’s tireless work in fighting health inequities through research, advocacy and policy impact is absolutely instrumental to our institute’s core values, and I cannot emphasise enough the positive impact she continues to make in our sector.”
